NYFW FW 2019 Recap and Coverage

NYFW FW 2019 Recap-Fall Winter-New York Fashion Week-Blogger-Coverage-Style-Outfit #bloggerstyle #nyfw #outfit #winterstyle #camelcoat #leopard

I almost didn’t attend NYFW this year. Crazy, I know. But with the number of times I say, “crazy, I know” I’m quickly coming to the realization that I may, in fact, be a bit cuckoo.
Yet my life truly wouldn’t be my own if I didn’t operate it in extremes. For me, all or nothing is the way I balance my Libra soul. Still, I should probably find a better way.
You can 100% thank the Journal News for my attendance at NYFW. As always, it was inspiring, fun and equally exhausting. Check out my coverage below.

he first show I attended was the Indonesian Diversity Runway show. This consisted of four designers showing their lines, 2Madison Avenue, Alleira Batik, Dian Pelangi and Itang Yunasz. What I love about seeing these Indonesian designers is that I’m able to take inspiration from their culture and apply it to my wardrobe. Adding items that I may have not even thought about adding prior to seeing the show. Dian Pelangi’s looks were by far my favorite. The layering with the belts and vintage sunnies stole the show for me.

BLDWN was easily one of my favorite presentations. The collection consisted of 13 looks where each piece could easily be mixed and match with the others. There were elevated everyday pieces along with bold orange pants and a sweater. I’m personally always looking for fresh new items that I’m comfortable wearing every day that are casual yet interesting.
“Our Fall 2019 collection is inspired by the versatility of classic American workwear and its connection to New York City’s beat scene and music/fashion subcultures of the late ’60s. We wanted to infuse a sense of modernity into functional silhouettes and essential base layers to create a collection that feels sophisticated, but also a bit edgy and unexpected.” via elle.com

Fun fact: I like presentations better than runway shows…

id I tell you that I didn’t reach out to any brands this year? Almost every brand I cover in this post reached out to me, which feels kind of crazy! Never in a million years did I think L’Agence would invite me. Inside of Industria in the Meatpacking District L’Agence created a chic Palm Springs like experience. Invision pampas grass galore and vintage rugs. The overall vibe matched the deconstructed California cool collection. A collection made for a woman that does it all and wants to look good doing it.

NYFW 2019 Recap-Elie Tahari Runway-New York Fashion Week-FW19-Runway #nyfw #coverage #runway #fashion #fashionweek #nyfw #presentation

Elie Tahari has not done a runway show in five years. So to be invited to this one was exciting, to say the least. To sit in the coveted front row? Incredible. As always I will keep it real with you – It did help that I had a friend on the inside! When I think of Elie Tahari I always think of this one coat I wanted but didn’t buy. Isn’t that the worst? It was amazing to see the full line and to fall in love with other RTW pieces!
The best way I can describe the Tahari collection is that I want it all! “It’s about confidence, attitude, and independence,” said Tahari backstage according to vogue.com. There were plenty of belted blazers and pops of leopard in the collection. Christie Brinkley made an appearance at the end of the show and her daughter, Sailor, also walked the runway.

f you have a red carpet to be on and you need a dress, Pamella Roland is sure to have one you’ll love. There was even a black beaded jumpsuit on the runway this season. And a super chic pantsuit (see above). What I love about Pamella Roland is that she sticks to her guns, being evening wear. While I can sometimes appreciate a brand breaking out of their niche, like BLDWN, I really love Roland for what it is. When you make dresses this good, it’s almost sacrilegious to put your energy elsewhere.

Another fun fact: I had to ask the CEO and President of the CFDA….

I work closely with the CFDA, so I felt comfortable asking the CEO and President of the CFDA, Mr. Steven Kolb, if I could attend this event! When the Journal News asked me the Monday before NYFW if I could cover, I was afraid I didn’t have enough events to showcase! Luckily, Mr. Kolb was very supportive and allowed me to attend some CVFF CFDA designer events, including Jonathan Cohen!
I was so happy to be able to attend this show. The color combinations and embroidery were beautiful, unique and wearable. For me at least! I love interesting pieces that I can pair with basics. What I love even more is wearing color in the Fall-Winter. Living in New York over they very grey Winters, what you wear can really brighten up the atmosphere, so I’m so game for all these flowers and colors!

inally, I attended Diane von Furstenberg’s New York Fashion Week party. If you want to know how I got in, there’s a clue here.  Which was so much fun. It started around 5:00 p.m. which was great, it’s so hard when you really want to attend a fashion week party and they start at 9:00 p.m. and then you get all the FOMO when you don’t go. At least I do. There was live music by Charlotte Lawrence and plenty of really cool people to see in DVF looks. I even got to see a number of my influencer friends!

Overall I’m really happy I chose to experience New York fashion week again this season. I’m so thankful and I’ve worked so hard to be invited to these shows. Having a full-time job and a full-time blog has its challenges. So when I come to these crossroads, I have to pick my battles. Rest and health or covering fashion week? Luckily I didn’t get sick this year and was able to have an amazing experience and the best of both worlds!
