You’ve saved up your hard earned money and now you want to purchase something you love. It’s 2012, you’re on the phone with Hermes. You’re asking begging them to tell you if they have the leather strap and H buckle you want in stock. Not one Hermes store or licensed retailer will tell you what’s in stock. It’s their policy. Blah blah blah. I JUST want to spend my EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS on your dumb belt! And I’d like to know it’s there before I schlep into the city to figure out what size I am! *Cue champagne problem wines*
If you’ve ever tried to purchase a highly wanted / holy grail designer item, you know my frustration. Today I’m going to share my favorite designer items reviewed. Are they worth the trouble? Do you really want them? How do I feel about them years later? Let’s get to business!
My favorite designer items reviewed:
1. Chanel Jumbo Double Flap Bag. Get yourself on the waiting list. Go into a Chanel boutique (or two) and see if you’re lucky enough for them to have the exact one you want. If not (usually they don’t) ask to be put on the waiting list. *eye roll* I personally suggest getting the caviar leather. It looks like it’s embossed with little pebbles which makes your bag way more durable. I have another Chanel bag in lambskin and it’s very delicate and can scratch easily. The double flap vs. just one flap, adds additional structure to your bag so it keeps its shape better over time. As for size, I think the small or medium flap bag is my favorite. I don’t love how the jumbo looks when worn crossbody. Also because of the double flap, it does look quite thick/clunky.
2. Hermes Oran Sandals. I ordered these is a size 37. I’m normally a 6.5 but in European sized shoes, I always go at least half size larger. These I ordered online directly through Hermes last September. They are usually sold out of the brown all Summer but keep checking back on the site. They do update it regularly and when I was searching for them I did see plenty of styles go in and out of stock. They’re comfy and I would say my feet are on the wider side. I would in a heartbeat order these in black also, that’s how much I love them!
3. AllSaints Balfern Biker Leather Jacket. I wear a Size 2 (EU 34, UK 6). Every time I post this jacket on Instagram I get a question about sizing. Personally, I wish I would have sized up because I like my jackets on the larger size. But I let the sales girl talk me out of it because she said the jacket stretches so much. I’ve had this jacket around four years and haven’t found that it stretches “so much”. Yes, it stretches a little, but not enough for me. That said it has worn really well and still looks just as good as the day I purchased it. My favorite feature is that the zippers near your wrists fully open.
4. Gucci Belt. I wear a size 85cm / 34in. This I also purchased online so of course, I had to return it twice because I kept ordering the wrong size. I was going off the size of my Hermes belt, yet this belt is a bit big on me. This is because the buckle is connected to the end of the strap and ads about two inches to the belt. Whereas my Hermes buckle sits on the actual belt. I normally wear a size 25 in jeans so I have to wear the belt at it’s smallest size. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, wear this ALL the time and have had it for three years. The quality is amazing.
5. Hermes belt. Size 85cm / 34in, Width: 1.25. Fits like a glove. I ended up purchasing this at a boutique in Greenwich, Connecticut because Hermes in the city was so difficult. It’s one of my most coveted items and I’m so happy I purchased it. Wear is amazing. The only thing I would change is I wish I would have gotten a more camel color leather on the other side (the leather strap is reversible). So, I only wear this belt on the black side as the other side of my belt is a dark chocolate brown.
