Serious question: When it comes to gingham what came first, picnic blankets or clothing?
Whatever the answer may be, what I do know is I love picnics as much as I love a gingham print. I’ve personally gone overboard, and I definitely don’t recommend it. This is only my opinion but I think that the fun check print may not last that long in the fashion world. Why? Because think of it like when a radio overplays an amazing song. You loved the song the first ten times you heard it in the past three days, now you’re over it. Almost every retailer is very saturated with this hero print, which is what’s made me come to this conclusion.
So, you want to purchase this fun print but I basically just told you that you maybe you shouldn’t.
First option. My suggestion is going for an investment item. I love this DVF dress because even if it’s not in style next Summer if it is in style in five years, it will survive five years. That Zara blouse? Forget-about-it. Most of my fast fashion items are dead after three washes. Plus so many designer items are already on sale!
Second option. Purchase no more than five of your favorite under $60 items. As I’ve been trying to quit fast fashion, I suggest looking at reasonably priced brands like BB Dakota, Lucy Paris, BlankNYC, Guess etc. This way you really get to enjoy the print in different colors and items. I’ve already rounded up my favorites below!
I’ve done a bit of both options so if anyone wishes that I’m predicting the fate of this trend incorrectly it’s me! What is your opinion on gingham, will it stay or go?
