Recently I attended the Westchester Magazine Food & Wine Festival with the Journal News, @lohud. If you’ve been on the fence about going, it’s definitely worth it! I had so much fun. Today’s post is for my Westchester locals. I’m rounding up some new restaurants I’ll definitely be trying out and my favorite rosè’s and where to find them!
Layout: The event takes place at Kensico Dam in Valhalla. There were two or three large tents set up and there were food and wine stations outlining the tents. You walk around and pick up food and wine at each station. I arrived around 12:15 p.m. and it was already pretty packed. It was easy to move around and people were surprisingly animated and friendly. So, although there were a lot of people the environment was great. If you don’t like crowds, this was a crowd. I usually get a little anxious in a packed space, but since this was outside I was fine! Also, if this isn’t obvious, it is outside and can get a bit hot even under the tents.
Westchester Magazine Food And Wine Festival Roundup!
Restaurants to try:
George’s Dragon in Tuckahoe
I’m always looking for tasty authentic Chinese food, and if I go by their fried wontons this it is. I stopped by over the weekend to try it but realized there’s only a small bar to sit at inside. Heads up this is mostly a takeout place!
Address: 284 Columbus Avenue Tuckahoe, NY 10707
Tredici North in Harrison
The first time I ate lamb was at my current job. My coworker Naima makes the most delicious lamb meatballs. And now when I’m not in the city at work, I can go to Tredici North for equally delicious lamb meatballs!
Address: 578 Anderson Hill Road Purchase, NY 10577
Cooper’s Mill in the Westchester Mariott in Tarrytown
I swear it feels like I became a huge seafood person overnight. So when I tried the Seared Shrimp with watermelon pico de gallo and goat cheese breadcrumbs I died and went to foodie heaven!
Address: 670 White Plains Road Tarrytown, New York 10591
Tom if you’re reading this please feel free to suggest one of these places the next time I’m hungry and I don’t know what to eat. Haha! Does anyone else in Westchester always find it so hard to choose where to eat? Tom and I always go back to our three old faithful spots. I’m so happy I was able to share a few new places with you!
Top 3 Rosè’s & where you can find them:
1. Fleurs de Prairie
Where to find it: Rye Brook Wine & Spirit Shop 259 S Ridge St, Rye Brook, NY 10573
Why I love it: Refreshing and just a tad sweet!
2. Ultimate Provence Urban Provene
Where to find it: Harrison Wine Vault 289 Halstead Ave, Harrison NY 10528
Why I love it: It’s bold and a hint spicy, unlike any rosè I’ve had before! Sometimes it’s nice to change things up!
3. Woffler Dry Rosè Cider
Where to find it: There are plenty of places you can buy this, but I love Wine Stop! 699 White Plains Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583
Why I love it: It’s delicious, perfect for the beach and so fun if you like hosting events. I love the mini bottles!
