Westchester Living: Food I Love – Flinders Lane Stamford

A few weeks ago I had dinner at Flinders Lane in Stamford, Connecticut. And my goddess the food was delicious! There was a band when we walked in and the restaurant’s overall vibe was very cozy. Today’s Westchester living post is focused on this new food that I love! I know how hard it is to find new restaurants in the Westchester County area, so if you like this post comment at the end. It’s easy to always go back to the same places, but I love being able to try new restaurants and share them with you.

To give you a bit of background, I’ve also been to Flinders Lane in New York City and was hooked back in December. So, when I found out they had a location in Stamford, about 25 minutes from where I live in Westchester County, I was v excited. I already knew their oysters would be amazing!

I had a tasting of a few different things on the menu, and each dish was better than the next. Seriously, Australians do everything better. I also ate kangaroo, which was mentally a little unsettling, but actually tasted pretty good!

I’ll break everything down below, but I’ll spill my recommendation now, be sure to visit Flinders Lane at 184 Summer St in Stamford, Connecticut for your next brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks!

Drinks

I took Amanda, my photo queen on this tasting with me. So when I say we, that’s who I’m talking about. Ha! So, we tried the Don Bradman, Melbourne CBD and the Fresh grapefruit mule. I’m a sucker for a good mule, so it had to be my favorite!

Food

Amanda and I did a tasting of a few different things on the menu. Chef Brad convinced me to try the kangaroo. Isn’t it so weird that in other parts of the world people eat things you would never think to eat? Texture wise I was told it’s similar to deer. You know if you’re wondering. I’m also pretty sure it has to be one of the only places outside of NYC to offer kangaroo.

As I said in the beginning I live and die for Flinder’s Lane oysters, but what I really mean is they have the BEST mignonette. They also have small oysters which I like too, so there. Other than the oysters, my four favorites were the coconut curry laksa (I actually dream about this), tuna tartare and the brussel sprouts with honey truffle dressing. Did I tell you how excited I am to have this restaurant close to me in Westchester? I’m so happy!

Dessert

We had Grandma Stewart’s sticky date pudding. And it’s so good I wish I could have tried every dessert Grandma Stewart has ever made! Seriously, unreal. Oh, and it’s Chef Brad real-life grandma! How cool is that? I love family recipes. In addition, I had a hot milo. It’s similar to Nesquick, but let me tell you it was soooooo much better!
