Wang Tao is know as “queen of the suit” and I couldn’t agree more. Of everything presented in the runway collection, I couldn’t keep my eyes off the suits. The work wear inspiration was apparent in many of the pieces. I love the shoulders, pinstripes and my favorite? The blazer dress paired with the pleated waistband! The waistband was shown on a few pieces and what a statement it made on a seemingly basic items.
Something I’m going to try styling myself is a long blouse under a skirt. It’s a great way to add depth to your look, and another fun way to play with layering this Fall. I love what Tao has done here. I used to despise wearing full suits when I worked at Morgan Stanley. Her collection proves that the suit is no longer boring.
Takeaway: Work-wear doesn’t have to be boring and actually make a statement.
