Simone At Home – Interior Inspiration For Our New Home

New menu item, who dis?! Welcome to my first Simone at Home blog post!

Today I’m, going to share some key items that shape the interior inspiration for our new home. I want to create a timeless yet vintage vibe, apparently, in the interior design world it’s called “mid-century modern”. Let me tell you, you learn a lot when you’re diving into something new. Which brings me to my next point, budget.

Why are home items so EXPENSIVE? Like what? Why does a chic ceiling fan cost $600 DOLLARS? While some of the below items are on the more expensive side, these will be the key items that shape my home. They are my hero pieces. Other pieces will be selected around these items.

One thing I should tell you is that Tom (my boyfriend of forever aka 10 years) and I are both moving in together from our parent’s homes. Before you @ me, I’ve been sleeping over his house every night for most of those years. We spend a lot of time together, have gone on vacations together and communicate very well. I’m not worried about it and you shouldn’t be either.

My main point of sharing that is we aren’t taking any furniture with us. Besides our TVs and Tom’s bed. So we get to start with a clean slate. And when I say clean I mean it literally too, picking a “clean” white paint is no easy task.

Interior Inspiration For Our New Home Breakdown

Living Room Console – I LIVE and die for this piece of furniture. I hope I will for a while because it was expensive AF. I plan to make it really carry the character of my living room. So, I’ll pair it with a neutral-colored couch. Still, no idea what kind of coffee table I’m going to do, but hey it’s a start right?

Dining Room Table – I went with the 72″ table that seats 8 because it fits in the room and I plan on hosting all-the-things! Since I’m most likely not going to re-do the kitchen anytime soon, I opted for a marble table. You know instead of those oh-so-practical marble countertops I would get with a new kitchen. Also, I bought this for when I have dinners so I don’t have to stress over the marble being destroyed.

Gold flatware – (linked similar) I made sure to buy the dishwasher safe set, finding gold steak knives was another story, but I did find them! I just love the richness and the warmth that gold flatware gives to a table.

Jonathan Adler – I love everything this man creates. I purchased my Secrets canister years ago now, for my one-day future home. Yes, you read my psycho correctly. I’ve been hoarding perfect items for a while now. Thinking of putting this in my bathroom or kitchen. If it goes in the kitchen I would want the Calories canister too!
