This Summer I’m sharing more capsule wardrobes starting here with the Sezane Summer Capsule Wardrobe, using 12 pieces to create 48 outfits! You may already have many of these staples in your closet, but if not, this guide will help you determine what you need.
The first fact you’ll learn here today is that a capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to come from the same brand. Second, not everything needs to be neutral or bland. While this post is centered around one of my favorite French brands, Sezane, don’t forget to consider what you may already have while reading through. The looks below should serve as a guide to Summer outfits and a good idea about what you may want to add to your closet.
Having at least twelve items you can mix and match can create endless outfits, or in our case, 48 outfits.
If you add one item to your wardrobe for the summer months, it has to be the pippa dress. It’s easy to dress up or style casually, and it offers the epitome of a chic Parisian outfit. Wear it with white sneakers for a more casual look, or with some strappy sandals for a slightly more effortless look. Maybe that’s just me, but you’ll get a ton of use out of this dress on hot summer days.

If you’re starting your capsule wardrobe, you don’t have to load up on all twelve items. It’s best to add one or two items you can see yourself wearing often like white sneakers or jeans. See how many outfits you can make with items you currently own! This will help you decide what’s missing.
Sezane’s items are more tailored, so consider this when selecting your size. For blouses and shirts, I opt for a size 6 for a more tailored look, and a size 8 for a more casual fit. In knits, I go for a medium for the space in the arms. The blouses will carry you right into the Fall. When going for prints, I love a neutral base. As I mentioned earlier, a capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be boring, and incorporating color is perfectly fine. Opt for solids and smaller prints with a primary color instead of multiple colors.

Tops
Max Shirt & Tomboy Shirt
I own both of these in a few colors and print variations. The main difference between the Max shirt and the Tomboy shirt is the fit. The Max shirt is the perfect oversized boyfriend button down. It’s not boxy and loose in all the right places. The Tomboy shirt is a straight cut, which I find more tailored. It’s not as long as the Max shirt. I take a size six, and the fit is true to size on me. I’m a big fan of vertical stripes; they’re always more flattering.
Keep in mind that they are great pieces you can wear into the fall season as well!
Embroidered Max Shirt & Marcelo Top
I’m a big fan of the Max Shirt, and from all the variations they offer it in, you can tell that most Sezane girls are. Button up shirts can feel a bit masculine, so I love the embroidery on this one. This is also a great alternative to a linen shirt if you want to add something new to your closet!
A white tank is a summer staple, so I had to add the Marcelo top to this roundup. I love the high round neckline with necklaces layered over it. It’s a perfect addition to your closet that you’ll reach for year after year. I’m also waiting for the Juan top in the pointelle to come back in stock. A tank top is one of those versatile pieces you can’t have enough of.
Dress
Pippa Dress
If there’s one dress that earns a permanent spot in your summer capsule, it’s the Sezane Pipa Dress in Black. Lightweight yet structured, this piece strikes the perfect balance between effortlessness and elegance. I also can’t get over how good the fit is. I took my normal size.
Denim
Le Crop & Brut Sexy
Jeans are incredibly versatile and can be paired with just about anything in your closet. If you haven’t tried the le crop, they’re one of my absolute favorites. A wider, baggier let but perfectly fitted in the waist. If you’ve been on the hunt for a more relaxed wide leg, the wide leg trousers take the cake.
I’m usually a size 26/26, and I take a size 6 in both of these.
Denim shorts are also a great option for summer, but it’s something I’ve never been comfortable wearing. A capsule wardrobe should also align with your personal style. So just because I’ve included something here, if it doesn’t work for you, that’s okay!
Accessories
Justine Basket Bag & Isabelle Bag
If you’re looking for the perfect raffia bag for Summer look no further. The Justine basket bag is it. I would opt for the golden raffia as it’s a bit less out there, but any of the colorways work. Throw it over your shoulder or carry it by hand!
If you follow me on Instagram, I recently got the Isabelle bag in pistachio and I couldn’t be more in love. After almost two years of decluttering and creating a capsule wardrobe, I knew I needed some color. This shade of green goes with just about everything.
Jack Trainers, Gloria Low Sandals & Gloria Sandals
These three shoes will get you through the entire summer. Sneakers are necessary in my book, and I love how basic these are. I recently ordered the Gloria sandals in powder blue, but I think the gold is much more versatile. I took my normal size. Finally, the Gloria is a perfect sandal when you need some height or for a more elevated event.
Jewelry
