In the age where Instagramable moments are king, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is a content creator’s heaven. But still, there are plenty of beautiful social media moments elsewhere, so is it worth attending? Is it as good as the FOMO I get every year that I don’t attend? Well, spoiler alert, the answer to that is a hard yes.
As promised I’m going to share how anyone can join the party! Along with a full recap and review.
The VCPC takes place at Liberty State Park in New Jersey on the first Saturday in June, every year, and it does not disappoint.
Buying Your Tickets or Getting Invited to Cover the Event
Tickets start at $90 for pre-sale General Admission to $475 for the Rosé Garden.
GA tickets do not include food or alcohol, but they get you into the coveted event. You can bring your own food, picnic blanket (suggested) and you can buy alcohol there. You cannot bring your own alcohol and if you want to travel light there are food trucks. Seating is first-served open lawn seating (aka bring the blanket). There are also plenty of photo ops and games to play!
Early Access tickets are the same as GA except, in addition, they grant you access to the first ferry from NYC to Liberty State Park in addition to those super cute gold flutes for your champagne.
The creme-de-la-creme of tickets, aka the Rosé Garden. This area is secured from the rest and you must have a wristband to enter. In addition, your ticket price includes one bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rosé, a gourmet lunch box, seating, access to the first ferry departing from Battery Park (NYC) OR the shuttle to-and-from New Jersey (Liberty Science Center). There are exclusive instagramable moments in the Rose Garden and access to champagne bars where you can purchase additional drinks.
Attending as an influencer.
I would suggest attending the event first on your own and deciding if it’s something you would want to cover. Do some crowdsourcing on your Instagram and blog and ask if it’s something your readers would be interested in too. Do the thing, post the posts and save your stats for your pitch next year.
Getting to Liberty State Park
Before heading out to the event I obviously did my research – a girl needs to know what to wear! The event is rain or shine, which is v important for an outfit selection. There was also so much talk about the treck to get to the event.
As you all know I live right outside NYC in Westchester County. Weekend trains take about an hour to get into Grand Central so I opted to have my boyfriend drive me to my friend’s apartment in Midtown East.
From there we took an Uber to the ferry. Since I had these coveted VIP tickets we had access to the first private ferry out at 11:30 AM. Quick and easy, plus the ride over is beautiful.
When we arrived there was a small walk through the docks to land – where there were shuttles waiting for us. When we finally arrived at the venue, Liberty State Park, there was about a 3-5 minute walk from the shuttle to the tented area.
What were people wearing?
While there were plenty of those dressed to the nines, I also saw quite a number of women in VIP in dresses with SNEAKERS. Girlfriend was jealous LOL. I don’t recommend sneakers unless you’re confident rocking them, but a flat interesting sandal or shoe works. Definitely a low heel. You are in the grass.
If you want your photo taken, then you should bring your A-game. If you’re there to have fun, then I would describe the dress code as chic, semi-casual cocktail attire. Quite an oxymoron but if you get it, you get it.

Is it Worth Attending?
Absolutely. By the end of the event, I was really feeling the FOMO of all years past. How have a missed this event EVERY YEAR? And I’m already planning on heading back next year, comped ticket or not.
The event is all day long so it would also be a great day out with your girlfriends, you already know it’s great for Instagram content, a birthday celebration or even a bachelorette party.
The food needs a moment on this post too.
When we arrived the passed hors d’oeuvres, Rosé Champagne and classic Yellow Label Champagne did-not-stop. I think my favorite hors d’oeuvres were the cream cheese and lox in an everything cone bites – still dreaming about those. Then, they opened up probably one of the most upscale buffets I’ve ever seen complete with burrata (with its own herb infuser, pictured above), mini cast iron corn souffle, salmon and so much more. Followed by desserts consisting of mini ice cream sandwiches and the most delicious cheesecake pops.
What I Learned at 12th Annual VCPC
Nacho Figueras and his wife Delfina Blaquier are superstar polo players. Yes, both of them.
It’s also interesting to point out during half-time that guests are invited out to the field “stomp-the-divots”. Who can say they’ve done that before?
Finally, I think the last thing I learned was that this is not an event to miss next year!
