If your answer to that is no, it’s ok, but I’m going to explain why you should change that. If you want a life that you’re proud of, you need to make other people feel good. Having a fulfilled happy life includes how you treat others. You may or may not realize it, but there are plenty of ways to make others feel good. By following these tips you’ll add depth and empathy to your overall character. When you make yourself a better person, all aspect of your life will also become better. Here are a few tips:
- Learn how to read others subconscious cues. The best example of this is when you ask someone if they’re OK, and they say they’re fine. There’s a reason you asked in the first place, so I’m sure they don’t look ok. Sometimes the best thing you can do is let them know you’re around if they need someone to listen to. Don’t just blow them off and start talking about you weekend.
Be aware of your body language. Example: RBF (aka resting b-tch face) This is especially important in any kind of meeting or conversation. BE AWARE of yourself. You may actually be interested in what someone is saying, but you make people feel like sh-t when you look very uninterested.
listen, listen, listen. This is a hard one, but have you ever had a really good point during a conversation and that one person keeps talking over you? Don’t be that person. Take a breath after you speak, wait, wait and then I bet someone else with chime in. Being a good listener will make you thrive in all aspects of you life, and it will make others feel good about you and themselves too.
Self awareness is such an important trait to have, and it’s something you can improve on. The quote I choose this week is to remind you (and even myself) to take a step back and look at yourself from the outside. You may be making people feel like they’re worthless and that’s not what you’re trying to do or the person you are.
