How to Take Your Blog Posts to the Next Level

If you’re a blogger (or want to be one), writing killer posts is part of the job description. Last week I asked you on Instagram what you wanted to see on my site and a number of you asked about writing posts (in one way or another). How do I come up with ideas? Do you have to be good at writing? What if I’m not an expert on the subject? Today I’m going to cover what it takes to write great blog posts consistently and how you can take your blog posts to the next level.

Exactly How to Take Your Blog Posts to the Next Level:

Write down ideas as they come. Even at 9:00 p.m. at night I use the notepad app on my phone to jot down ideas I have. You will never remember them in the morning, trust me. Take the time and write them down.

Grammarly. Not good at spelling or grammar? Me neither! Don’t let this aspect hold you back. Grammarly is a free plugin that will check everything you write! Even your emails.

Ask your audience what they want to read. Having writer’s block? Ask the people what they want! This will also almost guarantee that those who ask for the post will come to check it out once it’s live on your site.

Use subheadings. Subheadings (the bolder, larger text that titles a separate piece of your post) make your posts much easier to read. My Valentine’s Day post from last week show’s a good example of using subheadings.

Add PINable photos at the bottom. Want people to save and share your content? Make it easy for them! Add pinnable images to the bottom of every post.

Always Add Value. You have to give something. Whether it’s tips from your personal experience or checklists, you need to give your readers something of value. Would you come to someone’s site if they weren’t telling you something that interests you? Or you thought you were going to get the information you can’t find anywhere else and it turns out its just click bait? Chances are you’re not going back to those sites.
