Post in collaboration with Bloomingdale’s.
This past Saturday I had to the opportunity to co-host two events at Bloomingdale’s White Plains with Jackie Giardina of Living After Midnite. The first was beauty bingo, the second a scavenger hunt throughout the store! Overall I think the event was a huge success (Bloomies thought so too!). It was so nice seeing familiar faces and meeting some new ones! Connecting with the Westchester County community has been one of my personal goals. Which is why these events are so special to me. So in case you missed the event, I’m sharing 5 things I learned at Bloomingdale’s White Plains Makeup Date!
5 Things I Learned While Co-Hosting Bloomingdale’s Makeup Date
-
- Gel manicures will help you stop biting your nails. Natasha, owner of Brushed Up Nail Art Studio, in White Plains offered a bunch of tips. She gave the audience a tutorial (on me!) on how to do at-home nail art! She also told us that you should take your time when doing your nails at home! Brushed up is a non-toxic nail salon located at 406 Mamaroneck White Plains, NY 10605.
- During Beauty Bingo with Jackie, I learned about Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer. For Bingo, Jackie and I chose makeup items we loved. And this was Jackie’s favorite bronzer and soon to be mine too! There’s nothing I love more than a giant bronzer!
- It’s easier to be on stage with a co-host. The main reason I feel so comfortable speaking in front of a large group is that I can’t see, so I don’t get distracted! Since that kind of advice isn’t really helpful to most… If you have good vision, get someone to co-host with you. It’s much more comfortable when someone else is on stage with you!
- Have a makeup pro do your makeup more often. You get to learn from these makeup masters and I really find it to be a form of self-care. Take the time to connect with someone in real life instead of trying to teach yourself by watching a youtube video (which I’m absolutely not against). It’s just nice to change it up, plus these people are professionals and each brand trains their employees on the newest trends and techniques.
- Doing an insane workout the day before an event isn’t the best idea, but do it anyway. I had an amazing opportunity to attend Glamour’s Woman of the Year summit again this year. Part of my day included a workout with Samantha Barry and two Nike Pro Trainers. I’m so happy I decided to do the most. There are some situations you should push yourself to do it all and this was one of them.
A big THANK YOU to Vital Proteins, Le Macaron Ridge Hill, Shame on Jane Jewelry, POSH pretzels, Pindar Wines, BLVD, Brushed Up and Jude’s Brow bar for partnering and helping make this event a success! Photos below!
What do you think about the 5 things I learned? Do you like posts like this? I think I learn something new every time I’m hosting or co-hosting an event. There is so much preparation that goes into making an event successful and so much outreach to make sure people come! Event hosting is not for someone who doesn’t like to be the center of attention. You are basically the main attraction!
