I’ve felt a massive shift to do more with less in the past few years. With that, my closet has been transformed in a significant way. Not only can I see all my clothing again, but in many ways, without knowing, I began to create a capsule wardrobe. And as my site reflects my life, I’ve created capsule wardrobe guides for some of my favorite brands.
Next up in this series is my sustainable Reformation capsule wardrobe guide.
What Is a Sustainable Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a carefully selected collection of clothing that reflects your personal style and can be mixed and matched in different ways. This approach is already more sustainable than constantly buying trendy items you may only wear once. In this post, I’m taking it a step further by focusing on one of my favorite sustainable brands that prioritizes eco-friendly materials, minimal environmental impact, and sustainable practices to create high-quality pieces that last.
Reformation is a member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA), which is committed to promoting fair trade standards. The brand also has a goal of becoming Circular by 2030. This means they stand by the practices of a Circular Economy to eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regulate nature.
As you read through this post, I’ve called out some of the sustainable practices and materials I’ve found interesting. And while not any one brand (or person) is perfect, I am always enthused by a brand taking a step in the right direction for our planet.

Sustainable Reformation Capsule Wardrobe Essentials
1. Eternity Knit Top
I love how effortless navy is, and I’ve been adding it to my closet in a big way. Long-sleeve tops are great for spring, and their loose fit makes them great for warmer days. When it comes to sustainable fashion, this knit is it. It’s made with eco-friendly stretch fabric that can be washed at home. What’s better than that?
2. Jadey Cashmere Oversized V-neck Sweater
This cashmere sweater has been at the top of my shopping list lately. It’s made from 95% recycled cashmere and has the perfect ribbed hem detailing. Layer it with a white tee underneath, relaxed fit jeans, and flip-flops for the ultimate cool girl look. If you can’t wrap your head around a V-neck, I would choose the Clara cardigan.
3. Eli Oversized Linen Shirt
If you’re new here, a button-down shirt is half my personality. And at a minimum, it’s one of the most abundant items in my closet. So I know a good linen shirt when I see one. This one is oversized with a relaxed fit and would look great with straight leg jeans or a pair of trousers and white sneakers. It’s truly one of those timeless pieces that will never go out of style in your closet.
4. Matteo Trench
The second warmer days arrive when a beam of warm sunlight washes over my face, and it’s trench coat season. Made from deadstock fabric, you’ll not only look chic in this trench, but you can also feel good about its carbon footprint while wearing it. And if you’re not familiar with deadstock fabric, it is leftover fabric that has historically been thrown away. It’s sustainable because it avoids the need to produce a new fabric.
5. Veda Celine Jacket
This is one of those high-quality pieces that’s worth skipping the fast fashion version of. The buttons, stitching, and slim fit are so elevated. While I would opt for black as a more neutral color for a timeless staple, this also comes in a beautiful buttery yellow hue.
6. Ruby Cropped Knit Pant
Doesn’t your skin deserve a day wearing 100% organically grown cotton? A great way to wear these would be to pair them with a navy sweater and a Mary Jane shoe. Make it a real New England look and pair it with a canvas tote bag.
7. Wes High Rise Wide Leg Jeans
A good pair of jeans is one of those closet staples I always grab for. These are a great sustainable option because they’re made with regeneratively grown cotton. (Regenerative agriculture practices help restore soil!) Pair them with ballet flats and a dressier blouse for a French girl inspired look.
8. Frankie Linen Dress
100% linen and a maxi? Say less. This is the perfect little black dress for the warmer months. It’s ideal day wear paired with flip flops or eveningwear with parties shoes. It’s one of those timeless pieces that fast fashion can not beat.
9. Naira Dress
A sustainable capsule wardrobe does not have to be colorless. While the fashion industry may make you feel like you need newness often, I love a timeless silhouette. And tonal floral print of this dress is just perfect for Spring.
10. Walker Knit Dress
This dress is made mostly of organic cotton, and it’s the perfect blend of casual and elevated. I see myself pairing this with a denim jacket and flip-flops in the warmer months.
11. Oversized Patrizia Bag
The style of this bag is one I would love to own in my own capsule wardrobe. The bowling bag is so in right now, but I distinctly remember eyeing this style when I was in college working at Bloomingdale’s.
12. Mini Rosetta Shoulder Bag
If I could only have two bags, I would need one of them to be a smaller evening bag. I love the crescent shape of this and the tie detail. This is one of those versatile pieces that could also be worn in the daytime as well!
13. Serenity Bare Sandal
When it comes to a sustainable capsule wardrobe, I love items that I find both dressy and casual. And while this shoe leans more towards an evening out, I think it looks so effortless with a pair of jeans and a white button-up.
14. Jessie Thong Sandal
If I’m being honest, I’m totally eyeing the avocado green suede over the black. But when it comes to practicality and matching most of what you own, the neutral color is always safer.
