Happy Monday all! The best way to start your week is, to begin with the best people surrounding you. You are the sum of who you surround yourself with has become a powerful quote I keep in mind often. Negative people in your social circle can affect your mood and your well-being. When I worked in HR I once heard how one person can make or break an entire corporate culture. And while the choice of company you keep is powerful, in a digital era, so is the content you consume.
With social media and algorithms taking over so much of our leisure it’s possible to get caught up in a Reddit subthread black hole or TikTok doom scroll. Unfortunately, the more time you spend in a negative space online, the more often this type of content will find you. For me some of the best ways I’ve found to combat this is mantras when I catch myself not feeling my best.
If I’m not around other business owners with similar goals, friends with positive attitudes or caught up in too much social media I can usually tell by how my mood shifts. So this morning I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes (that can also be used as everyday mantras) to remind you why your inner circle is your future.
The Sum Of Who You Surround Yourself With – Quotes to Live by The Week!
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
Surround yourself with people who talk about visions and ideas, not other people.
I am surrounded by people who bring out the best in me.
Love yourself enough to surround yourself with people that respect you. The company you keep is a reflection about how you feel about yourself.
I choose to be with those who share my values and encourage my growth.
The key to happiness? Unfollow people in real life.
Show me your best friends and I’ll show you your future.
A few I love from Motivational speaker Jim Rohn
Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better.
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
How to find great people
Easier said than done, am I right? You’re going to have to do some work. Find something you like, whether it’s your faith, a hobby, or take a class. Then, introduce yourself to the people around you in these situations. Trust me they’re just as nervous as you are, and guess what, in doing so you might make a new friend for life! Making new friends by complimenting someone can start up a conversation and change your social environment. Try it!
How to stop binging social media
Personally, I find a realistic effective strategy for this is habit stacking. If you want to stay off social media in the morning, after you do something you always do, like brushing your teeth or making coffee, make it a habit of putting your phone aside in another room while you get ready. Or in the evenings put your phone in a drawer or on the floor to charge. Once you change your consciousness level to be aware of this, you’ll see how often you’re looking for that dopamine hit. I know I’m guilty of it. I also find if I start the day off my phone, I’m grabbing for it less.
Since I always get so many searches on my site for quotes, I hope you enjoyed the ones above. Surrounding yourself with good people is a good first step. But you should also be doing good things for your body and mind. Hold yourself to higher standards and you’ll quickly see who isn’t meeting the mark in your life.
After hearing there are three wins you should try to conquer every day, a mental win, a physical win, and a spiritual win it got me thinking about what these look like for me. Finally, I’m sharing some of my current favorite items and practices that impact me positively!
This week I’m currently…
Reading: The Creative Act A Way of Being Rick Rubin I love how this isn’t s typical book, it’s filled with short chapters and snippets of inspiration.
Drinking: Organic Licorice Root Tea and if I’m being honest Mother’s milk tea… breastfeeding is hard work. Recently I’ve been trying to drink more decaf tea, and drink coffee less, just for some more balance.
Moisturizing with: Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream When I get the chance to moisturize I’m currently grabbing this. It’s easy and really hydrating when I only have time to put one thing on. Even with two kids this two seconds I take for myself in the morning is so important for my well-being. It’s so important to give your body some love each day!
Protecting my hair: Virtue Healing Hair Oil
I first came across this hair oil almost three years ago! It’s makes your hair look soft and helps heal split ends.
Luxury Favorite: My Current Body Red Light Mask It’s been hard to stick to using this every day, but it’s 10 minutes I set aside for myself. So when I do I get to use it I really try to relax and enjoy the pause. Especially if I sneak it in while my kids are napping. So far I see my fine lines getting a little less noticeable and my skin looks brighter overall.
Moving my Body: The Pilates Class My goal is to do something for my body every day, whether it be five minutes outside or stretching at home. I love how TPC has tons of workouts from a quick as 13 minutes to full-on all-body workouts that make me sweat. I also love the recipes they share. Last year one of the biggest mental battles I had with myself was that a workout only counted if it was in a class setting out of the house. Which is so crazy! I’m so happy I’ve stuck with TPC, I definitely want to add in more workouts this year.
