Thank you Ocean House for the complimentary stay. All opinions are honest and my own. Photography by Riley McCarthy.
Pulling up to the Ocean House Rhode Island feels like a fairy tale. The grand yellow and white resort is perched high above their private beachfront on 30-acres of lush greenery. Upon arrival, I was blown away by their exceptional hospitality.
Every season a new creative dining experience is launched at the Ocean House. This season, opening June 3rd, Ocean House has added the Sipping Terrace. Offering al fresco dining in an English Countryside setting.
Only two hours and twenty minutes from Westchester County, the Ocean House is a great destination for families, romantic getaways, day trips, and your Summer vacation.
The Sipping Terrace at Ocean House
In partnership with Sipsmith, London’s first copper distillery for nearly 200 years, you can now dine at the new Sipping Terrace. The outdoor space features the most charming greenhouses for afternoon tea or dinner.
Afternoon tea is at 3:00 PM or you can book dinner starting at 5:30 PM.
I had the opportunity of trying the dinner which included garden crudite and watermelon fennel salad with goat cheese. Next, main course options included scallops, roasted chicken, and escargot. But my favorite item had to be the orange-shaped mousse that truly tied the entire experience together.
Two hours and twenty minutes from Westchester County, the Sipping Terrace is a memorable day trip for you and your girlfriends, husband, boyfriend, or even great for you and mom!
Ocean House Rhode Island Overnight Stay
While I’ll definitely be back for a day trip to the Sipping Terrace, during this trip I stayed at Ocean House overnight.
The kind and friendly staff immediately make you feel like they’ve known you forever, even if it’s your first time there. I stayed in a deluxe double with Riley, my photographer, and felt right at home.
We each had plenty of space and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The bathroom had a soaking tub with complimentary bath salts, a double vanity, and a walk-in shower. The breakfast nook had a Keurig and snacks and a mini-fridge filled with swell reusable water bottles and additional beverages.
And, they’ve thought of everything. Even the nightstand had outlets built into it. And if you forgot something, like triple-A batteries for your camera, the concierge was eager to assist!
We woke up early the next morning and grabbed coffee in the lobby (there’s also tea!). Then took a walk on the beautiful 650-foot private white-sand beach and took in views of Montauk, Block Island, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Lunch at The Bistro
When you walk into the hotel at the end of the hallway you’ll find The Bistro. Riley and I had lunch here and I highly recommend trying the cold lobster roll and fries! Riley got the steak and it was delicious as well.
We sat overlooking the croquet lawn and ocean. The entire restaurant embodies the historic Victorian feel in a clean fresh way. Open Monday-Saturday 7:00 AM – 9:30 PM for dining and Sunday 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM.
Final Thoughts: Sipping Terrace at Ocean House Rhode Island and Overnight Stay
Finally, I must say that I’ll definitely be back! I hope everyone gets to experience the hospitality that Ocean House Rhode Island has to offer. The Sipping Terrace is a beautiful experience and would make a great gift for anyone in your life.
When I head back I’m definitely going to explore my surroundings a bit! If you have any local recommendations feel free to drop them in the comments.
