Motivation Monday: The Power of Community and Westchester Blogger Babes

Motivation Monday: The Power of Community-Quote-Inspiration-Community #quote #inspiraion #wordstoliveby #inspo #quotes

We may not always see eye-to-eye as humans, but there are definitely people on your team. And whether you want to believe it or not, we are stronger together. I’ve talked about finding your tribe because finding your people isn’t always easy. If you want to: harness the power of community, learn how to locate your community (or create one!) and know how to see which people around you aren’t your people then this post is for you!

Locate your community

Today with social media, it’s relatively easy to find people that like the same things you like.

For example, if you’re into fitness a quick Instagram hashtag search will find you people who are into fitness in your area.

You can also do a quick google search to find leaders in your area on a certain topic. Similarly, search for top artists, (your location) and those artists will come up.

Are you a Westchester Blogger? Then you can sign up for the WBB newsletter here and join our events!

You can also share tips on a subject online (I share a lot about blogging) and your community will come to you!

Create or join a community

You can create a community online (create a Facebook group or Instagram handle!) or my preference is to get a group together in person. Alternately you can join a community that already exists.

My advice? Find people and invite them to get together! Be a host.

I love partnering with restaurants for Westchester Blogger Babes events because we’re leaders in social media. So in exchange for social media coverage, we get a space to get to know each other and delicious food from a local business to share with our local readers!

Into fitness? Reach out to a local gym! Offer to get some leaders in fitness into that gym. You’ll find most local businesses LOVE the power of community and are already aware of how important is it and will gladly open their arms to you.

You can also invite a few friends to try a new class on me! Use my code “simplybysimone” at checkout for your first class free class at Elliptica Greenwich.

Getting like minds together will help you grow and thrive.

Which people around you aren’t your people?

Anyone who makes you feel less than, makes you question your abilities or feel bad about yourself are not your people.

Sometimes it’s hard to put your finger on. But if you have a funny feeling about someone, even if they like the same things that you do, my advice is to tread lightly. Get to know that person and then decide if they are really on your team or just in it for themselves.

Meeting new people can make everyone feel a bit uncomfortable so it takes time to “warm up” to others.

It’s important to be open of other people’s views, you don’t have to believe the same things, but always try to find common ground. Communities help you grow when your mind is open to discussion.

The power of community is endless.

I’m so happy I was able to get a pretty large group of Westchester bloggers and influencers together. Seeing everyone get to know each other, sharing ideas and advice has been so much fun. Creating a community can be scary at first (what if no one comes?!) but the experience is always worth it. Nothing great comes from staying inside your comfort zone.
