I think there’s a huge pressure as a young adult or as a twenty-something, to know what you want. These wants can include, what you want in a career, relationship and your future overall. I think some people are bred knowing exactly what they want, but most aren’t. Being totally honest, I almost never know exactly what I want. That’s partially due to me being a Libra and always craving balance, but it also has to due with my longing to know and understand every potential opportunity. Knowing myself and my personality, is also very important. Although I don’t always know what I want, I know key aspects that I do want in my life. I crave honesty, balance. integrity, creativity, kindness, understanding and positivity in all areas of my life. Knowing this I can easily eliminate any toxic environment or relationship.
So the next time someone asks you what you want in a career, relationship or your future, start with the aspects that you don’t want in your life. For example, if you never like being outside, then you can definitely eliminate a career as a police officer, sanitation worker, landscaper, lifeguard, ect. If you don’t have patience, being a caretaker, babysitter, retail worker or nurse probably won’t make you happy for long. Always take the time to be alone with yourself and your thoughts. What don’t you like about your current situation? What would make it better? What type of person are you? Knowing who you are and what you don’t want will actually shape your understanding for knowing what you do want.
