Today I’m going to tell you why I’m honest about not having a five year plan. Yes, the $100 dollar interview question that you should always have an answer for. Yet I don’t have an answer. Well, actually, I have an answer but it’s far from typical. Kind of crazy, huh? At first I thought it was. But let me tell you, lying about literally ANYTHING is so exhausting to me. I almost never lie, not even a “white lie”. So when I couldn’t decided where I thought I would be in five years, or what my five year plan was, I decided to tell people this instead:

Happiness and kindness are always part of my plan.
Hark work is always part of my plan.
Growing and learning are always part of my plan.
Change is part of my plan.

EVERYDAY. Not in five years, not in ten years. Every single day.

The important part of growth is that you can accept change. Maybe I’m too cynical, but the thought of saying “In five years I want to be a Senior Financial Adviser at a top firm in NYC” was a total joke. At the time, I did think that’s what I wanted to do, but I didn’t want to box myself in.

Furthermore, there are endless opportunities if you’re open to them. Why would I want to choose one road? I have no idea what role I want to hold in five years. But I’m very sure of who I am and I’m also sure of the person I want to be. So, I went with that. Most looked at me like I wasted their time and was totally useless. I just laugh because for the one honest person they meet, they have to meet at least ten people who bend the truth a little too much..

Love the post and seems like the Daniel Wellington watch is trending for most bloggers I have seen!

Life always takes a different direction to where you think it will go so I’m not stressing about exact plans. Things will happen and you go with it

Yes totally agree. Sometimes if you have a plan it’s not as easy to accept when life happens and you have to adapt.
