While a capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to come all from the same brand, I love setting the stage with just one. Designers, creative directors, and the like create collections that tell a story. When you focus on one brand the fresh new colors, styles, and silhouettes work seamlessly together and are easy to mix and match across the line. So while you may have a white t-shirt in your wardrobe already, the looks below will give you a good idea about what you may want to add.

Having at least twelve items you can mix and match can create endless outfits or in our case, 48 outfits. Rewear them and not only will your wardrobe become more sustainable, but you’ll have an outfit for every day of Summer. If you add one item to your wardrobe this season it has to be the linen trousers. We’ve all heard trousers are the new denim, but what I personally love about them is that they’re comfortable yet polished. I’ve showcased the brown color, but the white or black would work just as perfectly as well. Maybe that’s just me, but you will definitely get a TON of use out of them in the late Spring and early Fall as well.

If you’re just starting to transition into a capsule wardrobe, you don’t have to load up on all twelve items. In fact, it’s best to add one or two items you can see yourself wearing often. Like sandals or shorts. See how many outfits you can make with items your currently own! This will help you decide what’s missing.

While I selected neutral colors, you can absolutely have color in a capsule wardrobe. If I’m going for a pop, I like to go with prints that have a neutral base and solids. When you have the right basics it makes creating an outfit easy. They’re also the items you’ll find yourself wearing again and again. Making your closet that much more sustainable.
