We’ve all gone through a lot of changes this past year and a half. Myself included. And the truth is I used to work so much that I never wanted to explore cities. How could I use my vacations to travel somewhere I couldn’t totally relax? If you’ve shifted your lifestyle too and are looking to explore a clean, fun, exciting new city, a three day getaway to Boston, Massachusetts is for you!
The Boston Park Plaza Hotel is located in a central area making it easy to explore the city on foot. This is perfect if you love indulging in all the local food. Getting in your steps and exploring all the historic buildings, monuments, and streets helps work up an appetite!
If you want to explore Massachusetts further, check out my guide to Salem, Massachusetts, and Lexington Massachusetts!
Boston Park Plaza Hotel
The Boston Park Plaza Hotel is a historic hotel near Boston Common. When you enter the first thing that comes to mind is wow. The sky-high ceilings with giant diamond-shaped chandeliers hanging in the distance of the all-white marble lobby make it feel like a palace.
The rooms were perfect for our stay – just enough space to get ready and be comfortable. The biggest appeal of the hotel is the lobby where you can easily grab breakfast or Starbucks and that it’s within walking distance to Beacon Hill, Downtown, Bay Back, Little Italy, Boston Common, and Bay Village.
Thank you to the Boston Park Plaza Hotel for hosting us, Jackie, Tracy, Tiffany, and I had such a pleasant experience staying here.

Parking and Getting Around
We opted to drop off our luggage at the hotel and pre-paid for parking at a garage around the corner. It was $80 ($20 cheaper than the valet at the hotel). We left our cars parked all weekend and either walked or used Lyft to get around.
The lot we used was 10 St James Ave garage and we booked on Spot Hero. Make sure you print or take a screenshot of your parking pass because when you enter the garage there is no cell service making it difficult to park.
Where to Eat
While there is so much history in Boston, I think the best part of our trip was the food. Before we deep dive into the amazing meals to check out during your three day getaway to Boston, I have to tell you to make reservations wherever your can. And make them at least a week in advance. Like New York City, Boston is a busy city and the best restaurants are hard to get into!

Breakfast / Lunch
Tatte Bakery 399 Boylston St, Boston
Single-handedly the best thing that has ever happened to me is eating a pistachio croissant from Tatte Bakery. Every single item we tried was delicious. There are tables available for walk-in, you can order, grab a number and sit at a table. The wait on the weekend was about fifteen minutes or so.
The Banks Fish House 406 Stuart St
Aesthetically new and beautiful, The Banks Fish House did not disappoint. I know this is a bold statement, but I may have had the best lobster roll of my life here. It was definitely my favorite one during the trip. The Chowda Flatbread is also a must-order.
Lolita Fort Point 253 Summer St
Located on the Fort Point Channel in an old church, Lolita gives off heavy Day of the Dead vibes inside and I’m not mad about it. It’s edgy, cool and the food is delicious. We ordered a Lobster Roll at almost every meal and the twist Lolita’s gives to theirs by adding corn is * chefs kiss * good. Don’t miss out on the mushroom quesadilla – FYI it wasn’t on the menu online but was while we were there.
Woods Hill Pier 4 300 Pier 4 Blvd.
Thinking about this lunch makes me want to make a frozé with a wildflower garnish. From the decor to the food, to views of Boston Harbor, everything was displayed perfectly. It takes a lot for a salad to impress me, but the salad of mixed greens here was a hit with strawberries, candied sunflower seeds, feta, and balsamic the combination was unreal. We also loved the WHP4 Burger and heirloom tomato salad.

Dinner / Drinks
Saltie Girl 279 Dartmouth St
We almost didn’t order the beef tartare but I’m so happy Tiffany pushed for it – if you want to try beef tartare or if you’re a semi-fan already, this is one of the best. Did I mention the restaurant is painted pink inside, and the floors are black? I love when the space was just as good as the food. Also order the rock crab carbonara, warm spicy crab roll, and coconut cream cake.
Bar Mezzina 360 Harrison Ave
If you’re a pasta fan, you’ll love Bar Mezzina. But start with the Focaccia and sides first, the white bean and the peperonata were my favorites. We split the orecchiette with sausage and the paccheri with lobster and it truly felt like a delicious Italian feast. The cocktails spot on too!

Other Recommendations from our Communities
We couldn’t fit everything into our three day getaway to Boston, Massachusetts, so here are some other restaurants that come highly recommended!
Committee 50 Northern Ave
We were told by our favorite local, Nail the Cocktail, that these are the best drinks in town.
Lookout Rooftop & Bar 70 Sleeper St
Located at the top of the Envoy Hotel this rooftop lounge offers cocktails, small plates & sweeping scenery.
Bostonia Public House 131 State St
New England fare & bars on 2 floors in a historic building not far from the Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
Where to Explore
From Beacon Hill to the Boston Harbor waterfront there’s no lack of places to explore and things to do during your three day getaway to Boston, Massachusetts. Don’t skip Acorn Street, it was too cool to see such an old beautiful cobblestone street in person – it’s nothing like the ones in NYC. Second, if it’s not raining the Brattle Book shop is also a sight to see in between the two large buildings outside.

- Boston Public Garden 4 Charles St and Boston Common (adjacent). Beautiful park with George Washington Statue, Swan Boats you can rid in the pond and don’t Miss the Beginning of the Freedom Trail here!
- Old South Meeting House 310 Washington St National Historic Landmark & original site of the Boston Tea Party
- Acorn Street One of the most photographed and oldest cobblestone-lined streets in the US. Don’t forget to explore the general area of Beacon Hill while you’re there. Be sure to stop into Vintage Taste 100 Charles St and Upstairs Downstairs Antiques 69 Charles St while you’re exploring!
- Little Italy Hanover Street Boston Check out all the local Italian food plus our personal favorite, Mike’s Pastry for Canoli’s! It’s said the local favorite is Modern Pastry, but we had to side with Mike!
- Boston Harbor Waterfront and the Seaport. We walked from the Christopher Columbus Park to the Seaport before lunch at Woods Hill. It was a hot day so it’s wasn’t the ideal walk, but if it was a little bit cooler it would have been so much easier to enjoy!
- Faneuil Hall Marketplace 4 S Market St and Quincy Market 206 S Market St With tons of food vendors and artisans this reminded me of Chelsea Market in New York City!
- Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum 25 Evans Way We didn’t make it here on this trip but it’s on the list for the next one. This over one hundred years old museum houses some of the most distinctive art. Modeled similarly to a Venitian Palazzo, the Museum has a garden placed in the center.
- Brattle Book Shop 9 West St One of the oldest books shops established in 1825, in an open lot to its side, they set up shop outside showcasing some of their most affordable books making this a must-see!
